About the Author
David M. Keller was born and raised in Ottawa, Illinois, and currently resides in Seneca. He proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 1st Armored Division, 2nd Battalion, 46th Infantry, Headquarters and Headquarters Company. During his service, he was deployed to Florida in support of operations during the Cuban Missile Crisis with the renowned “Old Ironsides.”
Following his military service, David pursued a strong work ethic that led him through a variety of professions, often holding multiple jobs simultaneously, before beginning a distinguished career in law enforcement. He served briefly with the Ottawa Police Department before transferring to the Seneca Police Department, where he steadily rose through the ranks to ultimately serve as Chief of Police.
After retiring from law enforcement, David continued his commitment to public service by joining the Illinois Department of Corrections as an Investigator in the Internal Affairs Division. He dedicated 20 years to this role before retiring once again.
Never one to remain idle, David later worked in campus security at Illinois Valley Community College, where he also achieved a personal milestone by earning his bachelor’s degree at the age of 65. Today, in semi-retirement, he continues to stay active by working part-time at The Irish Suds Car Wash.
David’s life reflects a deep dedication to service, lifelong learning, and community, experiences that strongly influence his writing and perspective.
